Review – Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac

From there, the news comes. Those who played the original will remember that there was no complete voice acting: the characters communicated only with text balloons, sound effects and that characteristic “grunt”. Already in Re-Pac, all characters have real voices, including Pac-Man itself, which finally speaks during the cutscenes and even in gameplay actions. This change gives even more life and charisma to adventure.

It can be nostalgia for some and new to others, but the story remains practically the same. The golden fruits were stolen from Pac-Vila by the ghosts, freeing Nefaust, a evil spirit. It is up to our hungry hero to go through Pac-Land, face enemies and recover the sacred fruits.

Despite the simple plot, now the game has true voice acting, subtitles and texts in Portuguese, becoming much more accessible to all audiences.

The journey takes the player for six distinct environments, with scenarios ranging from forests and cold mountains to volcanoes and the ocean. Each world brings its own challenges, puzzles and characteristic phases. The classic scheme “go from point A to point B” continues, but now the look is beautiful, there are some expansions and even the collectible fruits have new functions: besides opening chests, they are also part of a missions system.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, Re-play

Each phase has three different missions, such as collecting all fruits, achieving a specific score or ending without losing lives. Fulfilling all goals ensures rewards-especially new clothes for PAC-man. They are not amazing, but they are a fun treat.

This missions system greatly increases the replay factor, pleasing those who like to complete everything. And that’s not all: the game also has 250 collectible statuettes, and two can be found in chests within the phases, while others come from Gashapon machines – which, of course, can yield repeated items.

PAC-Vila now acts as a much more detailed and interactive central hub. This is where you access the clothing store, the arcades and also customize the atmosphere with the acquired statuettes, leaving the unique village for each player.

As you advance in the phases, the thorns disappear and the inhabitants return, which makes everything more captivating. Remember: the village is also a phase, full of fruits to collect and rewards to win. The negative point is that, whenever we return from a phase to the hub, the items collected are zero – even if the menu records progress. I hope they correct this in some update.

It is very cool to review the refers, especially with improved gameplay. The PAC-man moveset is more responsive, making the commands much more pleasant. The scenarios, enemies and bosses have received visual and mechanical improvements, and the soundtrack has also been fully rework, resulting in a much more fluid and fun experience.

Eating quickly and without chewing

If the difficulty is a problem, there is the easy way, in which a fairy adds items that facilitate jumps, as well as offering endless lives. The package is even more stuffed with a 75 unlockable songs and, of course, the traditional mazes, which are back more beautiful and fun than ever.

And don’t stop there: the game has already confirmed one, bringing scenarios inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog. Wait for Green Hill Zone-style phases, with looping, springs, rings and even blue hedgehog-themed clothing for Pac-Man.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac used the recipe from the original, but added new ingredients with love, delivering a remake that is at the same time nostalgic and modern. With more content, polishing and news, this “Pac-Hot” is a real gift for old fans and a perfect gateway to new players.
