Hospital pharmacists are an irreplaceable part of modern health care. Their cooperation with doctors and nurses creates a solid foundation for quality, safe and effective care from which every patient benefits. On the occasion of Thursday World Day of Pharmacists, the director for the development of pharmacy in Agel Ľuboš Dorsic pointed out.

“A hospital pharmacist is not just a hospital pharmacy. He is an expert who is directly involved in the treatment process and, along with doctors and nurses, is looking for the best solutions for a particular patient,” He explained Doršic, saying that the pharmacists are supervising that the hospital treatment is not only effective but also safe.
As he explained, the work of hospital pharmacists takes place within the multidisciplinary teams. They control drug interactions, participate in the creation of standards or consult the dosage. They also prepare individually prepared medicines in the unavailability of some medicines. “Thanks to this close cooperation, treatment errors, hospitalization time and, above all, increase the safety of the healthcare provided,” can minimize treatment errors, ” added Dorsic.
He added that in some cases, pharmacists are also involved in communicating with patients when dismissing houses and explaining how to take the medicines properly. “Every year, thousands of patients are hospitalized for improper use of medicines or their adverse effects. Therefore, it is essential that hospital pharmacists are part of the whole treatment process,” He explained Doršic.
