When does the heating season start in Poland?
The heating season in Poland does not have one rigid start date. It is regulated by the Regulation of the Minister of Economy of 15 January 2007 on the detailed conditions for the functioning of heating systems. According to this document, the heat supplier is obliged to start heating when the outside air temperature drops below 10 ° C for three consecutive days, and weather forecasts indicate the maintenance of such conditions. This means that the date of the heating season is liquid and depends on the current weather. In practice, it usually falls at the turn of September and October, although in cooler years heating can be turned on earlier, and warmer – later.
It is worth noting that the above provisions apply to so -called centralized heating systems, i.e. heating supplied to buildings from municipal heating networks. In the case of individual heat sources, such as gas, carbon or heat stoves, the decision to start heating is completely on the side of the owner or property manager and is not regulated by the provisions regarding outside temperature. Nevertheless, many individual users are also guided by similar weather criteria to ensure thermal comfort in their homes.
