Winter tires: one car had already locked - the other still went to 45 km/h

And only 20% performed well. 11 of the models failed roundly in the tests performed by ADAC.

There are those who do not have suitable tires for all stations in their car. Or have, but prefer specific tires for winter, due to the places where they will pass.

Like “winter is coming” – or more or less – the German Automobile (ADAC) made testes, For now, 31 winter tires.

All with size 225/40 R18, but brands and prices varied a lot, starting at 93 euros and going to 177 euros per tire.

Result: practically half didn’t pass in the tests. AND 11 of the models failed roundlydescribes the agency DPA.

The disapproved tires performed so weakly in at least one driving task – which were classified as inadequate. They are therefore a “risk absolute of security” for the drivers.

Evident example: a car with approved tires that circulated in a Road with ice at 80 km/h, stopped completely 31 meters later; with the worse tires, under the same conditions, 31 meters later, still circulated at 45 km/h.

Just about 20% of the models deserved the classification “Good performance”.
The best was the GOODYEAR ULTREGRIP Performance 3 set; About 171 euros per tire. He performed particularly good on wet floor and also impressed thanks to his projected mileage: over 76,000 kilometers.

The Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 follows right behind, in second place. Bridgestone Blizzak 6, Dunlop Winter Sport 5, Hankook Winter i*Cept Evo3 W330 and Continental Wintercontact TS 870 p complete the list of the best.

Those who frequently drive in extreme winter regions should invest in good winter tires. Those who drive only occasionally – especially in temperate climates – and can leave the car parked in extreme winter conditions, can also opt for the cheapest (but recommended), says ADAC.
