Airlines negotiated the combination of their business since January 2025; Minister of Ports and Airports says that outcome is good for the sector

The union of the two companies would create an airline with 60% of the Brazilian market. In January this year, Abra and Azul signed a memorandum of understanding that could lead to the merger of companies.
The minister (ports and airports) said in an in X that the end of negotiations to merge between Gol and Azul is the result of the “Strengthening airlines and aviation growth in Brazil, boosting business and leisure tourism”. He wrote: “The sector consolidates itself, generating more opportunities and connecting the country!”.
