Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on Friday (29) that the country proposes to build a nuclear plant in eastern territory, which could provide electricity to the parts of Ukraine controlled by Russia.
Lukashenko presented the idea to Russian leader Vladimir Putin during negotiations at Kremlin in Moscow.
“If a decision is made, we will immediately start building a new energy unit or a new season if there is a need (electricity) in western Russia and released regions,” said President Belarusso, employing the Language Moscow uses to describe the Ukranian territory captured by Russia.
The offer highlighted the narrow ties between Putin and Lukashenko, even with the president of the United States and improve relations with the West.
Putin replied that “financing is not a problem. If there is a consumer who accepts electricity and pays the required fare, there is no problem.”
