The President of the (Federal Council of Medicine), sent on Thursday (25) a letter to the minister (education) informing that, by disagreeing with the content of the new, will not participate in the ceremony of approval of the standards.
The event is scheduled for this Monday (29). The new curriculum makes some changes to boarding school, maintaining 30% dedicated to urgency/emergency, but including in this family and community medicine. The other 70% must contain, in intensive, mental health and orthopedics.
In the letter, Gallo reiterates the position of the Council against the curriculum guidelines for medical courses approved by the CNE (National Council of Education). For the CFM, the changes “put medicine and the health of the population at risk”.
“The guidelines approved by the CNE, for their generic character and the absence of recognition of medical private competences, will contribute to the training of professionals without adequate technical preparation,” writes the doctor, who also sees the possibility of “enhancing the increasing and illegal invasion of the medical act” and that there is impairment of patient safety.
For the Chairman of the Board, the guidelines should include a curriculum nucleus that solidifies the medical skills. “Generic guidelines, applicable to any health profession, do not serve medical education and compromise care to the population,” he criticizes.
He adds that the CFM presented “scientific evidence proposals and the experience of more than eight decades of regulation of the medical profession in Brazil” and says that technical contributions “were fully despised, whether in shape, concept or inclusions.”
“This posture represents a disrespect to the Brazilian medical category and, above all, a risk to the quality of medical care offered to the population,” he says.
Federal Counselor Francisco Eduardo Cardoso Alves criticizes the norm and sees deletion of the doctor’s identity. He also states that there is no definition of what is the doctor’s private education and disputes the lack of prediction of solid formation in bioethics, emergency and intensive care. “If you erase the name ‘medicine’ of the document and read it again, you won’t know which profession is talking about,” he says.
“The counselors who reported the new guideline made a point of excluding any suggestion of the CFM and did not declare their conflicts of interest with private education and health entities,” he adds.
