France Football magazine released on Friday (26) the final score of the Golden Ball, awards of the best player of the season, delivered last Monday (22) to Ousmane Dembélé. The result shows that the best -placed Brazilian (5th), Barcelona’s striker Raphinha was very far from the podium.
Dembélé, Paris Saint-Germain’s French striker, had 1,380 points, against 1,059 of Lamine Yamal, Spanish striker of Barcelona. Very distant were the Portuguese midfielder Vitinha, also from PSG (703), Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah, from Liverpool (657), and Raphinha, with 620 points.
Although Raphinha was not considered a favorite, some betting sites predicted that it would be in third place. On social networks, Brazilians in the world of football, such as Santos striker Neymar, posted that Barcelona striker deserved better placement.
Hundred journalists participate in the vote, one of each of the 100 best countries in the FIFA selections ranking. Each of them votes in ten players, in order of preference. 15 points are awarded to the favorite of each voter, 12 to second, and successively 10, 8, 7, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 point.
Dembélé was the first option of 73 voters, against 11 who preferred Yamal and 6 who opted for Vitinha. Raphinha was not the first choice of any of the voters.
On Friday Barcelona announced the absence of Raphinha, injured in the right thigh, next Wednesday’s game by Champions League against PSG at Montjuich Olympic Stadium. Interestingly, he will not be on the field, also by right thigh injury. Another embezzlement of the French team is Brazilian defender Marquinhos.
