The Philippine residents face the consequences of the Baoali storm with at least four victims. Difficulties in approaching aid highlighted infrastructure problems.
The Philippines on Friday confirmed at least four deaths as a result of the strong tropical storm of Baoali. So far, the country has also evacuated about 400,000 inhabitants that endanger landslides and floods. The north of the country only hit Ragasa Supertajfun on Monday, TASR reports according to AFP and AP.
Civil protection officials in the Bicol region said three people died as a result of the collapse of walls and trees, explains AFP. AP reported four victims only in the province of Masbate, with the fourth victim being hit by lightning.
Help has slowed off blocked roads
“We need to clean the roads because most of our road network is not passable to get food and medical assistance to us,” Governor Masbate Ricardo Kho said at a press conference. “We also need help to open our ports as soon as possible so that we can get help from other provinces,” he added.
According to AP, the tropical storm of Buali also caused a outage of electricity in some cities and villages in the province of Eastern Samar. It also caused floods in this region and two smaller landslides, the Filipino Agency said at a press conference to alleviate the consequences of disasters. AFP states that the Bualii storm is moving west to northwest at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. The agency adds that thousands of people remain displaced as a result of the Supertajfun Ragas, who affected the north of the Philippines and claimed at least nine victims.
