Annalena Baerbock, chairwoman of the UN General Assembly (UN VZ), called on Friday’s speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before world leaders in New York to respect the UN Charter’s basic principles. According to the DPA report, TASR reports this.

“Anexia is prohibited, just as humanitarian law is forbidden to use humanitarian aid as a war weapon,” said former German Foreign Minister. As she added, the ceasefire in Gaza conflict is urgently needed to achieve the liberation of hostages and the supply of humanitarian aid.

Asked if she expected Netanyahu to announce the annexation of the West Bank Jordan Israel, Baerback answered that he could not predict his words. She added, however, that last year Netanyahu gave a speech at the UN, followed by further attacks on Lebanon.

The UN’s attitude is clear, she stressed

Baerback stressed that the UN Charter and the attitudes of most Member States are clear. “Every country in the world has the right to self -determination,” she said in this context. She also pointed out the previous UN resolutions that urged the Palestinians to live in peace in their own state alongside Israel.

Since more and more countries are recognized by the Palestinian state, a step that is sharply refused, Baerback said he expected a “very intense” speech. The Israeli Prime Minister will perform on the fourth day of the general debate at the UN VZ, along with representatives of China, the United Kingdom and other countries, recalls DPA.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his Thursday speech, which took place through telemost after the United States refused to grant him a visa, condemned the steps of Israel in the Gaza Strip as a genocide. However, Abbas said that the Palestinian state could calmly coexist alongside Israel without the involvement of the Palestinian militant Hamas movement – which implies that its aim remains a two -state solution, despite the resistance of Netanyahu’s government.
