The judge left the office of, from (Supreme Federal Court), this Friday (26) after more than a year being the main assistant of the minister.
Rocha’s departure was confirmed in a concierge signed by the president of the Supreme, on September 15 – and coincides with the DOS, determined by management last Monday (22).
The decision came from the judge himself, who now returns to the Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo. With the new low, the Moraes Office has only one auxiliary judge, recently named.
Rafael Rocha had acted as an auxiliary judge of Moraes since April 2024. He was responsible for conducting statements from defendants and witnesses of hundreds of cases linked to 8 January.
It was also to preside over the sessions with the coup plot nuclei defendants. Moraes only participated in the central core hearings, with former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), generals and former ministers.
The Donald Trump government announced in the second a new wave of sanctions against Brazilian authorities as a reaction to Bolsonaro’s conviction. The main target of the onslaught was Moraes’s wife, lawyer Viviane Barci.
Old assistants of the Supreme Minister were also sanctioned, to a lesser extent. The visas had revoked the judges Airton Vieira, Marco Antonio Vargas and Rafael Henrique Window Tamai Rocha, who assisted the Supreme Minister, and José Levi, former Advogado-General of the Union and former Secretary-General of the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) in the management of Moraes.
Also targeting the sanctions were the Minister of AGU (Attorney General of the Union), Jorge Messias and former TSE minister and former co-person Benedito Gonçalves, rapporteur of the actions that left Bolsonaro ineligible; and Moraes’ chief of staff, Cristina Yukiko Kusahara.
