Ukraine proposes energy support to Slovakia and Hungary without Russian oil and gas. Zelenskyj confirmed the plan of joint negotiations in Bratislava.
Ukraine is ready to help Hungary and Slovakia, which continue to buy oil and natural gas from Russia, with their supply from alternative sources. At Saturday’s briefing in Kiev, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenable said it, TASR informs, referring to the Ukrainian Pravda portal.
He noted that he agreed with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) at a recent meeting to organize a joint meeting of the Ukrainian and Slovak government in October, where Kiev offers adequate support.
Government negotiations
“There will be a meeting of governments in Slovakia, where Ukraine can submit and submit alternative steps of energy support. But only if it does not concern Russian oil and Russian gas,” said Zelenskyj.
He added that this issue could also be discussed with Hungary. “But they have not taken any steps. Except for some signals in the media, which are certainly not to support Ukraine, I have not heard anything else,” said Greeding.
Trump’s Stanovisko to Russian
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (23 September), a speech in the general debate of the UN General Assembly, reiterated its expectations that Europe should give up the use of energy carriers from Russia as quickly as possible, which has attacked Ukraine because “it finances war against itself”.
Trump and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán then talked about this topic by phone. After this interview for public service radio, Orbán declared that the interruption of Russian oil and gas supplies through the pipeline could “destroy the Hungarian economy” as Hungary is an inland state. He also claimed that this would immediately lead to a four percent decline in Hungary’s economic production.
