Ukrainian drones on Saturday reached an oil pumping station in the Russian region of Chuváchia, on the banks of the Volga River, causing the interruption of activities at the site, regional governor Oleg Nikolaev said in a statement published on Telegram.
Nikolaev stated that the attack occurred near the village of Konar, about 1,200 km from the Ukrainian territory. He stated that there were no victims and only “light damage.”
Ukraine has intensified drone attacks on Russian energy infrastructure in recent weeks, aiming at refineries and export terminals to reduce Moscow export revenues, generate internal discontent and press Kremlin to negotiate peace.
