The number of dead by the strong tropical storm bualloi rose to 11 This Saturday (27), as the storm approaches the the authorities reported. The Bualoi storm reached the small islands of the center of the Philippines on Friday, overthrowing trees and power poles, pulling roofs and causing flooding and the evacuation of 400,000 people. One of the hardest hit areas was the small island of Biliran, where eight people died and two remain missing, said by telephone to AFP Noel Lungay, a provincial employee responsible for response to catastrophes.

“There were widespread floods and some roads were still submerged in the early hours of today,” he said. “The displaced people are starting to return to their homes as time improves,” he added. Manila’s Civil Protection Office previously reported three other deaths in the neighboring islands of Master and Ticao, including two people buried by a tree and a wall knocked down by the strong winds.

Fourteen people remain missing in central Philippines, the agency added without further details, while more than 200,000 remain in shelters. Bualoi arrived after the superior who killed 14 people in northern Philippines. The storm is going through the southern China Sea on Saturday, with sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour, said the Filipino state meteorological service.

It is expected to reach the central coast of Vietnam on Sunday afternoon. Scientists warn that storms are becoming more powerful as the planet warms up due to the effects of climate change caused by humans.
