Os announced on Friday (26) that will revoke the visa of the president of Colombia, after he participated in demonstrations in New York. The State Department classified its statements as “impudent and incendiary.” “Earlier today, Colombian President Gustavo Petro positioned himself on a New York Street and urged American soldiers to disobey orders and incite violence. We will revoke Petro’s visa due to its reckless and incendiary actions,” the agency published on his X (former Twitter) profile.

During the act, which was attended by British singer Roger Waters, Petro asked US military to “not point his weapons to people. Disobey Trump’s orders. Obey the orders of humanity.” He also said, “We have to respond on the streets, with words and also with weapons. We need to form a more powerful army than the United States and Israel together.”

In his X account, on Saturday morning, Petro said he was already in Bogota and confirmed the revocation of the document, saying that the action “violates all the rules of immunity on which the United Nations and their General Assembly are based.” He also accused the US government of not complying with international law and said that “the United Nations headquarters cannot remain in New York.” Petro made criticism open to Trump in a UN speech.

Last Tuesday (24), in a speech at the UN General Assembly, the Colombian President accused Donald Trump of being a “accomplice of genocide” in Gaza and defended the opening of lawsuits against the president for “order” to attack alleged drug trafficking boats in the Caribbean. About a month ago, Washington sent eight war ships and a submarine to the region, alleging operations against drug trafficking. According to the US government, three vessels from Venezuela were destroyed, resulting in 14 deaths.
