"We had an incident." Denmark detects new drone overflows to military base

Russia denied “firmly” being involved in these flyers, with its embassy in Copenhagen to denounce an “orchestrated provocation”

Unidentified drones were observed on Denmark’s largest military base on Friday night, after several rape of that country’s airspace in recent days, local police said.

“I can confirm that we had an incident around 20:15 [19:15 em Lisboa] which lasted several hours. One or two drones were observed abroad and above the Karup air base, said a police spokesman.

“We don’t get down,” he added.

The incident joins those who have been running since Monday in a campaign that the Danish government has described as acts of “hybrid war.”

The intrusion led to the temporary closure of airspace to civil traffic for a while.

Drone flights had already been observed on Wednesday night about Skrydstru Air base and Aalborg airport, the fourth largest city in the country, which also has a military component, forcing the airport to suspend flights for one hour.

On Monday, the emergence of drones had also led Copenhagen airport to end air traffic for about four hours, causing delays to approximately 20,000 passengers.

The Danish authorities have not yet determined responsibility for airspace violations, although they refer to a “professional actor” and a “hybrid attack” and have expressed suspicions of possible connections to Russia.

The country has been on maximum alert since Monday, with the first minister, Mette Frederiksen, Alertado, on Thursday, for the possibility that the number of “hybrid attacks” can increase.

Although he admitted that the origin of drones is not yet known, the prime minister said that “there is a country that mainly represents a threat to European security: Russia.”

These incidents happen after the raid of Russian drones also in Poland and Romania and suspicions in Germany, as well as the approach of Russian fighters to the stoned airspace, but the Danish authorities have not formally established a link between these incidents.

Russia has “firmly denied” being involved in these flyers, with its Copenhagen embassy denouncing an “orchestrated provocation”.

Denmark is one of Ukraine’s leading supporters in the face of Russia’s offensive in February 2022, and recently announced that he was acquiring new means “to detect and neutralize drones” and long -range accuracy weapons to reach distant targets.

On Thursday, the Danish police also announced that they are investigating the movements of various vessels, including a Russian war ship near its territorial waters.

Ten European Union countries decided on Friday to move forward with a drone wall, an air defense system to detect and react to the irregular entry of these remotely piloted aircraft.

“We face clear challenges: Russia is testing the EU [União Europeia] And the NATO and our response should be firm, united and immediate, ”said European Defense Commissioner Andrius Kubilius, at a conference held in Helsinquia, Finland, after a Video Conference meeting with the EU 10-state ministers who are on the Military Aid Front line to Ukraine.
