More than 50,000 people have been removed only in the Donetsk area and many are being sent to Dnipro, which is the closest city. Who has nowhere to go is referred to refugee centers. There are those who have been living in containers for over 10 years, since the beginning of fighting in the south in 2014.

When he was forced to escape the Donetsk region, he was pregnant. Sofia was born in this refugee camp in the Dnipro region. The mother, Lisa, continues to dream of the day she will be able to return home.

“I miss the city, I miss my father who is still there. I only see him once a year when he comes here on my birthday. I’m worried about him because he doesn’t want to get out of there, I don’t know how to convince him,” says Lisa.

He came in 2022 with his mother and husband. “It’s better to live in our house, of course. But slowly we are trying to bring some of our things here. We are also trying to buy some things, but what I can say is that our home is our home. “

The city where it lives is still delivered to the Ukrainians, but there is a lot of pressure and attacks from Russian troops. She has lived in a container since she started the invasion in 2022. The husband got a job, she is taking care of her daughter.

The whole family receives in total 200 euros of state help. A container may have one or two bedrooms, some have a bathroom others have to share with those who live in the same block.

There are over 100 people living in this complex. Each container block has a kitchen and laundry that is shared. And there are those who have been living in these conditions for 10 years. This is the case of Natália. He fled Donetsk in 2014 and since then he has lived in these containers and has much criticism to do to the government.

“How can I stay there? I’m patriot, I defend my country. I would never stay there, but at this moment, after living in these conditions all this time, I might consider coming back. I know I couldn’t talk, but at least I would have my home, my ceiling.”

Many of these people live tired. They say the government is not doing enough to help those who had no choice but to escape the war. The government says 52,000 people have been taken over in recent times only from the Donetsk area and will soon need to increase the answer because a lot of people from critical zones continue to leave.

It is said that the immediate will need to need another 30,000 beds at least.
