Lô Borges, one of the sound architects of the legendary club of the corner, continues to prove the timeless strength of his own art – whether on stage or on the pages of international criticism. In the middle of the creative phase, bending the authorial production in the last 20 years compared to the previous four decades, the Minas Gerais musician prepares for a historic meeting at the Brazil Style Festival in Brasilia (DF).
The recognition of Lô’s work goes beyond borders. “Clube da Esquina” (1972), recorded alongside Milton Nascimento, is considered a milestone of Brazilian music and recently gained a new breath of consecration.
Pitchfork, one of the most prestigious musical vehicles in the United States, resigned the album and attributed it to the highest grade 9.5. For critic Andy Beta, it is “one of the most ambitious albums in the history of Brazilian music”.
The American critics put the work on an equal foot with classics such as “Pet Sounds” (The Beach Boys), Stevie Wonder (Stevie Wonder) and “The White Album”.
“Casual and inspired, studied and spontaneous,” Beta wrote, noting that, even for those who do not understand Portuguese, the album’s fascination reveals itself in vocal harmonies, hooks and orchestrations that “escape the limits of language and directly affect the heart.”
Released in the midst of the military dictatorship, the album is also described as “the subtler and deepest of revolutionary acts.”

If Milton Nascimento was raised to the Definitive Star, Club da Esquina also designed fundamental careers. It was in this context that the young Lô Borges and bassist Beto Guedes, partners since childhood and responsible for hymns like “everything you could be” and “a sunflower the color of your hair”.
Now, more than five decades later, the two will share the stage again in Brasilia. On October 25, they perform alongside Sérgio Hinds, guitarist and founder of the Rosary, absolute reference of Brazilian progressive rock.
The Corns & Songs tour proposes precisely this rare dialogue: the bucolic delicacy of the corner club intertwined with the instrumental weight of the seventy prog-rock. In the repertoire, classics such as “Nascente” and “Modern Fair” meet the vigor of Hinds guitars.
The Brazil Style Festival has been consolidated as the stage for unique and unforgettable meetings of national music.
In addition to Lô Borges and Cia., The program features Fagner (24/10), Martinho da Vila (31/10) and the Paralamas Meeting of Success with Dado Villa-Lobos (21/11).
The event has the offer of Banco do Brasil style, sponsorship of BB Visa cards, Banco do Brasil and Federal Government, the project is carried out by Metropolis And it has the production of OH! Arts.
