The institutions to which we associate the defense of democracy have not fulfilled any direct role in controlling these actions. The survival of democracy did not take place directly from their actions.
The “direct” and “direct” qualification in previous sentences is critical.
The idea of resistance to processes of setback or erosion of democracy does not apply, therefore, to the aborted plan. There is not apparently a similar record in the literature on what is called Democratic Backslinging. For example, in poor countries with weak institutions, without democratic experience, and weak civil society, they have entirely distinct meaning where these parameters are others, as in Brazil. The strategic calculation of the actors indirectly reflects the context.
