Last Friday, Trump said negotiations about Gaza with Middle East countries were intense
United States President Donald Trump said on Sunday (28) that there is a “real chance of grandeur in the Middle East” without giving details or stipulating a time limit, just days after saying he was close to closing an agreement to end the war in Gaza.
“We have a real chance of grandeur in the Middle East. Everyone is engaged in something special for the first time.
According to government officials, Trump will meet on Monday (29) at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, with the aim of advancement in an outline.
Last Friday, Trump said negotiations about Gaza with Middle East countries were intense and that both Israel and Hamas militants were aware of conversations, which they said would continue for the time necessary.
King Abdullah of Jordan also said on Sunday that many details of the US President’s plan to end the war in Gaza “are in line with what has already been agreed,” said state agency Jordanian. He gave no more details about his plan or explained what he involves.
In parallel the visit of Israeli Prime Minister, a US embassy spokesman in Israel said ambassador Mike Huckabe will travel to Egypt to meetings with authorities in the country as part of regular diplomatic consultations between US embassies in the region.
Egypt is between countries that act as mediators between Israel and Hamas.
On Saturday, Hamas said it has not yet received a new proposal from international mediators. The statement came after the Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoting sources that Hamas had in principle agreed to free all the Israeli hostages they maintain in exchange for the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and the gradual withdrawal from Israeli troops, according to Trump’s plan.
According to Haaretz, the proposal also included the end of the Hamas government in Gaza and Israel’s commitment to not annex the territory or expel the Palestinians living there.
“No plan has been presented to Hamas,” Reuters news agency has told the group’s leader who asked not to be identified.
