Hamas appeals to the Israeli army to stop the air attacks on Gaza. The movement calls on the removal of units to locate lost hostages.
The armed wing of the Palestinian militant movement Hamas on Sunday called on the Israeli army to temporarily suspend air attacks and withdraw from parts of Gaza because it is trying to locate two Israeli hostages. The Izzadin Kasam Brigades have previously stated that they had lost contact with two hostages due to intensified strokes of Israel on the parts of Gaza, TASR reports according to AFP.
“The lives of two prisoners are in real threat and (Israeli) forces must immediately be withdrawn south of the street no. 8 and stop air operations for 24 hours from today from 6 pm to allow attempts to save prisoners,” they wrote in a brigade statement.
Attacks in southern neighborhoods
In the previous statement, they said on Sunday that they had lost contact with two Israeli hostages in two southern districts of Gaza in the past 48 hours, where Israeli troops intensified their ground and air strikes. According to AFP, these are Sabrá and Tal Hawá.
History of incidents
Hamas has already announced that it has lost contact with the Israeli-American hostage, which was released a few days after this announcement, recalls this French agency.
Hostages are held in the Gaza Strip from an unprecedented attack by Palestinian militants in Israel’s 7th October 2023. It was killed by approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, while the other 250 militants subsequently dragged into the Gaza Strip.
The number of victims
The Israeli authorities estimate that among the 48 people still registered as Hamas hostage in Gaza could be alive about 20, while the remaining are probably already after death.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said on Sunday that the number of Palestinian victims of the war in the Gaza Strip has already exceeded 66,000, and they are also mostly civilians, adds AFP.
