Polish potato, Polish taste
Potato is the foundation of our kitchen, the hero of daily dinners and festive dinners. Country potatoes draw from this rich heritage – they are made only from Polish tubers and appear in flavors inspired by native tradition, such as butter with salt, smoked or dill. These are chips that smell a Polish table. However, before they go to the package, the potato must go a long way …
From field to package
Before traveling to the factory, the potato matures from 5 to 8 months. The top of the collections falls in autumn – in September and October, the tubers come from fields to warehouses in Stanace. Over 10 different varieties are used for production. In rural packs of potatoes there are tubers from several regions of Poland – the most from Lower Silesia, Opole and Greater Poland. Lorenz, a brand producer, today cooperates with nearly 100 farmers throughout the country.
– Potato is a symbol of Polish cuisine, and its quality always begins with the ground. That is why we support farmers who use regenerative practices: they care about crop rotation and a year -round soil cover, thanks to which they protect her from erosion and maintain its fertility. Such activities also help limit CO₂ emissions – in 2024 in Poland we were able to save 113 tons thanks to them – says Aleksandra Paciorek, senior brand, PR and corporate communication in Lorenz.
10 steps to be crunchy
Each chips have a long history behind it. The potato ripens in the field for months, later he waits in the warehouse for its time – and in the factory turns into a snack in just 45 minutes. In order to become chips, it goes on average for about 10 stages – from washing, through cutting and frying, to seasoning and packing. A strict selection awaits him every time. The tubers are checked before cutting, and ready chips – again before seasoning. Country potatoes are distinguished by the fact that they are not peeled and remain in the skin.
Not all potatoes get their chance. They must have the right content of starch and sugar, as well as the right size. It also happens that potatoes … stress – e.g. during drought, flooding of plantations or sudden frosts. Then they do not meet the standards and are rejected. What about waste? Nothing is wasted – peeles and leftovers go to the biogas plant, where they turn into energy.
Tasty finale
Potato’s journey ends where pleasure begins – at times when we feel like something homely. Country potatoes, produced only from Polish potatoes and inspired by native cuisine, best complement the moments when we return to favorite, traditional flavors – always close to the heart.
