Wanderlei Silva, legend of MMA, published on his social networks on Sunday afternoon (28) is still suffering from “a lot of dizziness and a headache that does not pass”. Early in the morning, he had been knocked out during a widespread fight after fighting former boxer Aceino Freitas, Popó.
The two competed at Spaten Fight Night 2, a special format event, recognized by the National Boxing Council (CNB), but outside the professional circuit. At the end of the fight, where Wanderlei was disqualified for using illegal boxes in boxing, the teams of the two combatants climbed the ring and began to fight.
Images of TV Globo’s broadcast and those shared on social networks by spectators on site show that Wanderlei has punched behind the head and another on the face. This one, he took him to the canvas, where he remained for several moments.
After the dissolution of the fight, Wanderlei, already awake and alert, was taken by ambulance to the São Luiz Hospital, in the south of São Paulo.
“I was very well supported by the event, took me to the hospital yesterday, I did the exams. But as I have a lot of headache, I will perform new exams here in Curitiba, to be able to identify if I had any more severe head injury or not,” said the former Pride Smuggle in publication on his Instagram. “I will also consult an ophthalm, because I’m not able to open the eye. That was the damage caused yesterday.”
Earlier on Sunday, Wanderlei Fabrício Werdum’s friend shared on video on his audios social networks of a conversation he claims to have had with Popó on Friday (26), in which he asks his former boxer and his team not to offend the former fighter and his staff, and maintain the provocations only among the combatants.
“I ask you to talk to your people there so as not to curse Wanderlei, that you cursing is one thing, right? You arguing is one thing. But let’s get good, right, between the teams […]”says Werdum, also a former fighter, in the recording.
“There was nothing disrespect, there was none of that, there was no cursing, there was nothing. Unlike Wanderlei Silva, who called me a butt,” says Popó in the response released by Werdum. “But relax, brother, will catch everyone. When one in the run, everyone gets picking up everyone. When one gets one in the ring, he gets everyone.
The fighter’s lawyer, Claudio Dalledone, also commented on social networks. In a video, he states that Wanderlei was knocked out “criminally” and that the audios published by Werdum show that there was intention of the Popó team to cause damage to the MMA legend.
“The one who assaulted, treacherously, a 50 -year -old man who had fought and was low -guard, will be held criminally responsible,” says Dalledone in the video. “We can even understand that he, at that moment, hitting a 50 -year -old man the way he hit, being a boxing professional, would be indifferent to the results. Then we are talking about eventual deceit, attempted murder.”
The lawyer also states that, in the audios of Werdum, “Popó categorically says, directly, that everyone would catch. They were already predisposed to criminally assault the Wanderlei Silva team.”
HAS Sheetthe boxer had said that Wanderlei’s “nervous class” wanted to defend the prohibited blows in boxing that the former MMA (mixed martial arts) tried to wear, with heads and knees during the fight.
“The aggression was all on the other side, there was no aggression on our side,” said the four -time world champion. “I just post [em uma rede social] A video from Wanderlei going to my son, his coach giving me a lot of punch. He even pulled the protector out of my mouth, so much punched that he gave me. Wanderlei going to my son along with his son. “
