“If we took tariffs, we would be a country of third world”

United States President Donald Trump said without tariffs against China, for example, the US could not lead in Artificial Intelligence (AI) or protect investments or boost the arrival of new companies. “If we took tariffs, we would be a third world country,” said reporters.

According to the Republican, tariff policy is causing companies, especially automotive and AI, migrating part of production to the US, leaving countries such as China, Mexico and Canada.

Trump also reiterated that China needs the US more than the US of the world’s second largest economy.
