Opposition SaS considers the statements of Defense Minister Robert Kalinak (Smer-SD) to the Specialized Criminal Court (STS) in connection with the case of Daniel Bombic for blatant. He is concerned about the abolition of the court. This stems from the statements of the deputies of the National Council (NR) of the Slovak Republic Maria Kolíková and Ondrej Dostál (both SaS) at a Monday press conference.
“We have not seen such a bill yet. This is true. However, it must be very careful, because we know that the considerations at the beginning of this government were also canceled by the STS,” noted Kíková.
She drew attention to the abolition of several institutions, such as the National Criminal Agency or the Special Prosecutor’s Office. He thinks the coalition was based on lies. In this context, she pointed out that Daniela Bombic took the Supreme Court, not the STS. “It is obvious, as was the case with the shameful amendment to the Criminal Codes, that there will be any lies to liquidate the institutions that are able to prosecute corruption effectively,” added.
Dostal In connection with the claims of Kalinak, he spoke of a possible violation of the constitutional law on the protection of the public interest. “In a decent country, it could not be that a minister whose law firm represents a prosecuted and already accused extremist will publicly put pressure on the court that decides his client and thus abuse his position in favor of his personal interest in favor of his client,” noted.
Even opposition Christian Democrats would disagree with the possible cancellation of the STS. They don’t see the reason. This was stated by Vice -Chairman of the opposition KDH William War journalists in the National Council of the Slovak Republic. He also criticized Kalinak’s statement. He considers it inadmissible for a member of the government to attack an independent judicial institution, especially if his law firm represents the person. “It is about crossing the red line,” added.
