The week begins with teams from the Brazilian and American governments around with the preparation of the expected conversation between presidents Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump.
Last Tuesday (23), after almost nine months of sanctions applied by the White House to Brazilian products and citizens.
Where will the meeting be?
For Lula’s assistants, the ideal would be whether the first contact occurred by phone or video conferencing later this week, as Trump announced while speaking in the UN. But there is an expectation that they both meet in a third country, that is, in a neutral environment. There are two possibilities ahead: Italyduring a meeting of the United Nations Food and Agriculture (FAO), on October 13; and Malaysiaon the sidelines of the Southeast Asian Nations Association (ASEAN), on the 25th of the same month.

Defeat for Eduardo and Rubio
In the assessment of some Lula government interlocutors, the ice break between the two representatives was a defeat not only for Deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), who has been in the United States since March this year, requesting sanctions against Brazilian authorities, with Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Supreme Court (STF), as the main target. On another front, the US government reported opening an investigation into possible unfair practices in Brazil, based on section 301 of the US Trade Law.
