Suspension of the current US president’s account following the attack on the US capitol
Google’s YouTube agreed to pay $ 24.5 million (20.8 million euros) to resolve the process filed by President Donald Trump about the suspension of his account in 2021.
The suspension of the current US president’s account took place following the attack on the US capitol on January 6, 2021.
According to documents presented at the Federal Court in California, $ 22 million from the agreement will be destined to the Trust for the National Mall to help finance the construction of the White House State Ballroom. The rest will be distributed to other plaintiffs, including the American Conservative Union.
Google is the latest technology company to resolve Trump -powered lawsuits.
In January, Meta Platforms agreed to pay $ 25 million to terminate a lawsuit about its Facebook suspension in 2021.
Elon Musk’s Ax agreed to resolve a similar process filed against the company then known as Twitter for $ 10 million.
The agreement does not constitute an admission of responsibility, the document states. Google has confirmed the agreement, but refused to comment on any appeal besides.
The release of the agreement took place a week before an audience scheduled for October 6 to discuss the case with US District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez-Rogers in Oakland, California.
