Six months after the draw, a man from the Frankfurt region found the winning ticket after the organization launched a campaign to locate the lucky one. It all ended up well for the German, who has to thank… in the cold time.
Some people have no sense of the luck they have. This was especially true for a German citizen, who had millions in his pocket unknowingly for half a year.
The resident of the Frankfurt Metropolitan Region had bought, at the end of March, a Hesssen German State Bill. Shortly thereafter, he put the note in his coat pocket and did not think again.
On March 29, in early spring in Germany, the draw was held. A ticket collected the sum of 15.3 million euros in the modality “Lotto 6 aus 49”.
In the following weeks, as spring advanced, No one appeared to complain about the prize. The gambler had paid the bet on money, without leaving any record of the transaction.
In May, Hesssen’s lottery, Lotto Hessen, even launched a campaign with posters asking: “Looking for: Who won 15.3 million euros?”. Posters also encouraged gamblers to check out drawers, pockets and wallets in search of a possible award -winning ticket. Summer passed – and no one appeared.
Only now, at the end of September, the mystery was resolvedthe draw organizers reported on Monday.
Ticket found thanks to the cold
With the end of summer, on September 22, temperatures in Germany fell. But the end of the heat turned out to be revealed as the second luck to the mysterious winner.
According to his report, he decided to use the same coat that had not taken from the closet since late March – and found the ticket. “Only on the last end I found the ticket, folded in the inner pocket of my coat,” said the unidentified man, quoted in a statement released by Lotto Hessen on Monday.
“When I checked the numbers on the mobile phone and saw the value of the prize, I was completely in shock “Fortunately, I was sitting, otherwise my knees wouldn’t have endured.”

According to Lotto Hessen’s deadlines, the limit to claim the prize is three years. Never in the history of the organization such a large sum is no longer claimed by a winner.
When asked what he planned to do with the prize, the new millionaire said he would first buy a new sofa for the living room. In addition, he and his wife planned to use most money to financially help their children, the lucky one said, who chose to remain anonymous.
