Political tensions in the EU: von der Leyen is looking for stability in a divided europaarlament.

The President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen may count on the support of deputies from groups of socialists and Democrats (S&D) and renew Europe (RE) next week. On Tuesday he wrote about it Magazine Politico, TASR reports.

Dissatisfaction persists

Politico noted that, unlike voting in July, when socialists and liberals tried to get concessions from the EC to the last moment, the atmosphere is now more conciliatory.

Possible future change

According to the magazine, however, dissatisfaction persists in both factions. S&D does not preclude that in the future the proposal will support distrust if necessary. A potential union crisis

“Many people on the left side of the political spectrum long for a change,” said Erik Marquardt, MEP of the Greens/European Free Alliance, “but the change can turn in the wrong direction.”

Further voting

EC under the leadership of Von Der Leyen, one voting on distrust in July was held when the proposal was supported by 175 MEPs and against 360. The date of the upcoming voting is to be announced on 1 October.
