WASHINGTON (Reuters)-President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States is probably moving towards the 15th government stoppage since 1981, adding that his government can make irreversible changes during this scenario.
“We’ll probably have a stoppage,” he told reporters at.
Trump said Democrats are taking a risk in their negotiating about the stoppage, adding that the Trump government can cut the benefits it pays.
It seems to be unlikely that Republicans and Democrats reach an agreement to extend US government financing after midnight.
The Senate, controlled by the Republicans, should vote on a temporary spending bill that has once failed, with no sign that a second vote will be successful. Democrats want to modify the spending bill to extend the health benefits that expire at the end of the year to millions of Americans. Republicans say they should address this issue separately.

Meanwhile, federal agencies released detailed plans that would close offices that conduct scientific research, customer service and other activities not considered “essential” and send thousands of workers home if Congress does not reach an agreement on a solution before financing exhale at midnight (local time).
