Carneiro calls for explanations to the government about subconcensions of the CP service

The PS Secretary-General assumed that this is a “Theme that worries” and that will be accompanied by the PS in the Assembly of the Republic.

The PS secretary-general asked, on Wednesday, explanations to the government about the intention of moving forward with subconcensions of the CP service, expressing concern about the theme that promises him to accompany him through Parliament.

José Luís Carneiro began this Wednesday, the At 05:00, with a train trip on the Sintra line to Rossio, to which the socialist list heads were joined to the chambers of Sintra, Oeiras, Amadora and Lisbon.

“There has never been such a significant investment in the governments of the Socialist Party, namely in rail transport and, in fact, it was very important that the government could explain what is the minister of infrastructure, Pinto Luz, with the intention of concessing CP services,” he told journalists aboard the train.

The PS Secretary-General assumed that this is a “Theme that worries” and that will be accompanied by the PS in the Assembly of the Republic.

“This line is one of the most important lines in the enhanced metropolitan area, which has been trained, and there are concrete proposals to mobilize the response to citizens. Among these concrete answers, one of our Sintra’s proposals is that we ensure the ‘metropolization’ of the Sintra line,” he pointed out, next to the PS/Pan coalition list.

The idea of Ana Mendes Godinho’s proposal, according to the socialist leader, is that, as in Paris, there is “regularity every 15 minutes” of the trains.

“This goes through a responsibility and a commitment of the state to get this line, which serves the entire metropolitan area of Lisbon, can be an unconventional railway line, but has a metropolitan logic and more regular metropolitan response with a more qualified response,” he explained.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Miguel Pinto Luz, guaranteed on Tuesday that CP – Comboios de Portugal will not be privatized, but said that the Government intends to move forward with subconcensions of the service.

“There is no privatization of the CP. Will there be subconcensions for the system to work better? Yes,” said Miguel Pinto Luz, at the Infrastructure, Mobility and Housing Commission, at the Assembly of the Republic, in Lisbon, in response to questions from the PS deputy and former Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Frederico Francisco.

Subconcensions refer to the possibility provided for in CP legislation temporarily assigning the exploitation of part of its passenger rail transport services to a private company, by competition, without CP losing its position as a network concessionaire.
