The Englishman Mason Greenwood scored the third goal before the break, while striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang closed the rout in the second half, with an assist by Igor Paixão.
This was the first Olympique de Marseille victory at Champions League since October 2022, yielding the first points of the French team in the competition after the defeat for the debut game.
Ajax, in turn, suffered its second defeat in the tournament, after debuting with a setback against Inter Milan 2-0.
