The Attorney General of Germany has reported the arrest of three alleged members of Hamastwo of them with German nationality, suspected of providing ammunition and weapons for that terrorist organization intended to perpetrate “Mortal attacks against Jewish objectives “in Berlin. They were seized at the moment two AK47 automatic weaponsseveral guns and ammunition “in a considerable amount.”
Suspects are charged with “belonging to a foreign terrorist organization” and involvement in preparations for a “grave against state security “, according to the statement issued by the Prosecutor’s Office. It is suspected that they began to provide weapons for Hamas in the summer of 2025. Two of the detainees are born in the Lebanon and the third in Syria. Two of them, identified as Abel al G. and Ahmad I., have German nationality, while the third, Wael FM, is Lebanese. They are between 30 and 40 years old. It is expected that this Thursday will be made available to an instructional judge with the request for entry into provisional prison.
Possible objectives have not been specified by the Prosecutor’s Office or to what degree its alleged attack preparations were. The justice of Germany, a country that practices the iron support for Israel, currently has a process against four alleged members of Hamas, who were arrested in December 2023. In the course of investigations against them several deposits of weapons spread over different parts of Europe were located. Until these arrests, Germany had been considered a country ‘shelter’ For Palestinian militants, but not a possible basis for operations for their activities.
The three arrests occur at a time of growing pressures from German public opinion on the government of Friedrich Merz to rethink the almost unconditional support to the Israel government. The chancellor, as his predecessors, justifies this position in Germany’s special responsibility in supporting the Jews after the Holocaust. It is estimated that in Germany there are about 400 alleged militants of Hamas.
