Goodbye Disneyland? Americans' change their air and elect this Portuguese city as the "happiest place in the world"

Disneyland has long complained to itself the title of “happiest place in the world.” However, a global study has just highlighted Lisbon as the travel destination that truly smiles tourists.

According to the US magazine of Lifestyle People, the analysis was conducted by the Bookretreats platform, in collaboration with the Harvard psychologist and Natalie Dattilo-Ryan well-being specialist.

47 world cities were evaluated based on five factors considered essential for a trip capable of stimulating good mood: sun exposure, sleep quality, healthy eating, past time and physical activity.

The Portuguese capital shone

Lisbon stood out for offering exceptional conditions in various of these areas. The study underlines the varied gastronomic supply, with almost 10% of restaurants to present healthy, affordable and reasonable options.

The city was also recognized for the ease with which it can be traveled on foot. Their geography and the miracouters with stunning views make each walk a unique experience.

An outdoor life

Another of the strengths is the abundance of available green spaces, combined with an impressive average of 2,828 hours of sun per year, according to the same source. This set of conditions creates, according to experts, the ideal environment to stimulate the release of hormones associated with happiness, such as serotonin and dopamine.

Dattilo-Ryan explains that factors such as sun, good diet and quality rest “influence everything from mood to energy and digestion”, helping to turn a trip into an integral well-being experience.

World happiness podium

The study positioned Lisbon as number one in the global ranking. In second place was Helsinquia, Finland, a country that has been leading the United Nations World Happiness Index for several consecutive years.

In third place comes Orlando, in the United States, known as the “capital of themed parks”. The city of Florida also has 148 parks, gardens and leisure zones, although it has lost points in the healthy eating category and sleep quality.

A recognition with impact

According to the study result not only as a tourist destination of election, but also as an international reference in quality of life. The mild climate, the hospitality of the Portuguese and the cultural richness complete a portrait that reinforces the attractiveness of the city.

More than sunshine and stunning views, the Portuguese capital thus emerges as a symbol of a balanced and cheerful lifestyle that has conquered experts and promises to continue to attract visitors, now as the happiest place in the world.
