Governors Rafael Fonteles (PT-PI) and Elmano de Freitas (PT-CE) diverged from (-DF) on the impact of tax reform during a dinner with entrepreneurs on Monday (29), promoted by Sphere Brazil.
Fonteles and Elmano advocate reform as necessary for regional development, while Ibaneis showed concern about the exemption of for salaries up to R $ 5,000 and the increase in taxes for entrepreneurs
“If governments continue to increase the taxation of those who produce, we will get there with the greatest VAT and the highest tax on those who produce,” said Ibaneis.
“Brazil has an interest rate of 15%, with inflation above the goal and will put more money on the market. How are we going to arrive in 2027, who is the President of the Republic?”
Former President of CONSEZ, the board of Finance Secretaries, Fonteles said the reform is moving to correct distortions. Piaui highlighted the creation of a regional development fund so that less industrialized states can attract investments, also through economic grants.
Elmano stated that the change of collection of ICMS, which will be made in the destination states of the goods, will allow greater competitiveness to the Northeast states.
“If the Southeast grew as it grew, it also grew with the help of the state, with tax benefit, with subsidized credit. We now need to have something that can do all regions of Brazil grow,” said Cearense.
