Jannik Sinner showed his best way by beating the young American Learner Tien 6/2 and 6/2, this Wednesday (1st), in the final of China Open. With the result, the world’s number 2 won its third title of the season and the 21st trophy ATP level in the career.

The conquest of Sinner came a day after lifting the cup in Japan, marking the first time since 2020 that the top two in the world ranking won tournaments in the same week – made by Novak Djokovic (Dubai) and (Acapulco).

During the awards ceremony in Beijing, Sinner highlighted the importance of victory.

“It’s a very special place for me. Thanks to my team, even if not everyone is here. We will continue to work to improve and seek more achievements this season.”

The Italian, four times champion of Grand Slam, came to the decision after overcoming Alex de Minaur in a hard semifinal, in which he faced physical problems caused by a stomach virus. In the final, however, it showed no sign of wear.

Right in the first game, he broke Tien’s withdrawal and dominated the game until the first set was closed.

In the second, the 19-year-old American-who played his first final and dreamed of becoming the youngest US ATP Tour champion since Andy Roddick in 2002-had a chance of breaking, but saw the Italian impose, open 4/2 and confirm the victory in the third match point.

With the title, Sinner became the second tennis player to win more than once the Beijing ATP 500, repeating Djokovic’s feat (champion between 2009-10 and 2012-15).

After the game, the Italian also made a point of praising the opponent.

“You have shown throughout the season the talent you have. Continue like this, you are playing amazing sneakers. I hope we can share other moments like this in the future.”

Sinner now prepares for the Shanghai Masters 1000, while his main rival, is still in lesion recovery.
