Diego Araújo Ferreira Santos, one of the coordinators of the workers movement without rights, says that the project, if sanctioned, should end the source of income of motorcycle taxi drivers who have been operating in cities that have approved this type of service for a long time, such as Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Carapicuíba and São Caetano do Sul, among others.
Santos says that his category pledged, in a bill delivered to the mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Teixeira (Union), to comply with measures to mitigate accidents.
“The category is concerned with health and traffic safety. Our proposal provides for a training course for drivers, annual surveys in vehicles,” he says.
One of the articulators of the text delivered to the House, complains that the mayor has no interest in discussing with the category the viability of motorcycle taxi in the capital.
“All workers want to have dignity, but we have a mayor who wants to prohibit the motorcycle tax at any cost, does not accept that no one will do a safe bill for this profession to be exercised,” says Silva Júnior.
