Decree will still be analyzed by Congress; US troops would perform activities from October 20 to November 15
Argentina President Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza, right), released the US military exercises in national territory, according to Decree 697/2025 in the Official Gazette on Tuesday (30.Set.2025).
The text is a DNU (decree of necessity and urgency) that invokes AE gives 10 business days for analysis by the permanent bicameral commission before going to the congress plenary.
US troops will be able to practice exercises from October 20 to November 15, 2025. The Argentine government claims to expect to absorb knowledge, especially in training procedures, techniques and tactics, and improve the immediate response to the use of technologies.
The 1st exercise, called Solidarity, derives from an Argentine-Chilean agreement from 1997 on catastrophs cooperation (). It should be held from 6 to 10 October in partnership with Chile, in the city of Puerto Varas.
According to the decree, the activity includes civil-military integration for emergencies, joint disaster training and mutual transparency. The text also authorizes the departure of Argentine means to participate in the exercise, even without prior legislative approval, justifying “exceptional situation”.
The 2nd exercise, identified as trident, will be led by the US special naval forces. He will pass Mar del Plata, Ushuaia and Puerto Belgrano from October 20 to November 15th.
The maneuvers cover maritime, terrestrial spaces and the Argentine ENGLISH (EXCLUSIVE ECONOMIC ZONE), with the objective of standardizing operating procedures and preparing the country’s forces for multinational operations.
The entry of foreign military to this type of practice needs the approval of Congress, which has not yet happened. The decree explains that a PL (bill) was sent to the Legislature, but has not yet been analyzed by the House of Representatives.
The measure is announced at a time of approximation between the governments of the countries. During his speech at the 80th General Assembly of the UN (United Nations) on Wednesday (24.Set), I mailed the government’s policies (Republican Party).
