Μολδαβία: Η μεγάλη νίκη της Ευρώπης και η επόμενη μέρα

It was June 2022 when it officially acquired the nominee’s status of integrating a country after its recent invasion of the then, which led her to submit an official application already in March of that year.

The 2021 elections had preceded it, where the Pas PAS party had prevailed with a big difference, 52.8% versus 27.1% of the communist and socialist bloc, which showed the Moldovan people’s clear will for the Moldovan people for any further approach.

The 2024 referendum and last Sunday’s elections

It was followed by the October 2024 referendum, where the citizens of Moldova approved its accession to the EU through a referendum, and a few days later, in November 2024, pro -European, supported by PAS, Maja Santou, Maja Santou.

And the back of the back to Moscow came last Sunday: After a polarized pre -election period, characterized by extreme Russian propaganda and spreading false news, mainly through social media such as Tiktok, PAS managed to dominate 50% again, BP, achieving an absolute majority in parliament, with 55 seats in a total of 101.

The Road to the EU

However, it may, however, is now on the Union stadium on the country’s course before its integration.

The big obstacle, as in many of the European Union’s initiatives in recent years, is the rule of unanimity. In other words, in order to become an EU Member State, all 27 Member States must agree. Of course, the problem that arises is Hungary’s attitude and possibly Slovakia. The Orban regime, after all, has proven in most cases the “long hand” of Moscow within the EU, preventing any initiative in contrast to Russian interests.

‘Time for integration by 2030 counts in reverse’

Following the outcome of the elections, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister Christina Gerasimov stressed that time is now counting on the implementation of the EU integration commitment by 2030.

“What we have seen in these elections is that Moldova has hope for a European future again and that citizens trust the EU,” Gerasimov said. “And now it’s the EU’s turn to pay back. The EU’s credibility will prove to be in Moldova, a country that has chosen Europe again and again, and once again in the last elections. “

Gerasimov added that what makes the EU “strong and global factor” is “the unity of the 27 states. “At a time when one of the Member States hesitates, then the whole Union suffers around it,” he said characteristically, leaving a clear implicit to the Budapest government, but without naming it.

Costa movement to accelerate procedures

Wanting to accelerate the processes of enlargement both in Moldova and the rest of the integrated countries, European Council President Antonio Costa has already begun to make exploratory contacts with European capitals to try to gather support for a change in majority of today’s Member States.

In this case too, unanimous support for final integration would be necessary but the procedures would be greatly accelerated, as they could start immediately.

On the other hand, the obstacle of Hungary could be more immediately overcome, through the popular will of its citizens, as elections will be held in the country next April. So far polls show that, after 15 years, Victor Orban is very likely to lose power by Tisza leader Peter Mayar, which would make Hungary’s veto.
