The (Superior Military Court) took office on Tuesday (30) to-sitting in the chairs of the Castrense Court in over 200 years of history.

She also charged more space for women in the judiciary and said her possession is an “invitation to reflection so that this milestone is not just an isolated symbol, but a step so that our judiciary in the future no longer needs dates or statistics to remember that women are present.”
Minister Artur Vidigal de Oliveira, dean of the court, celebrated in speech the arrival of another woman to the military court. “This is a quantitative advance that translates into a monumental qualitative leap to diversity and thinking of living and experience that the female perspective brings to the debate table is incalculable,” he said.
“Our court, when welcoming another woman, is aligned with the values of modernity, equity and inclusion. She demonstrates that excellence is the only criterion that really matters,” he added.
Veronica Abdalla Sterman, 41, will be 34 years ahead in the Superior Military Court. She has a law graduate from PUC-SP, with a specialization in Economic Criminal Law from FGV (Getúlio Vargas Foundation). His highlight was acting in law.
Veronica was nominated by Lula for the position at STM on March 8, International Women’s Day. “I’m sure you and Maria Elizabeth will change the history of the Supreme Military Court for the better,” said the president by announcing the appointment.

Veronica will have the challenge of composing a minority wing of the Superior Military Court of Progressive and Guarantee Vision.
