Iram de Almeida Saraiva Júnior, ophthalmologist and former councilor of Goiânia, was arrested on Wednesday (1st) in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, accused of raping a child of just 2 years.
The arrest occurs after more than six months of investigation conducted by the Child and Adolescent Victim (DVACV) police station. During the process, testimonials were collected and analyzed by witnesses, reports of a pediatrician and a psychologist, as well as a special hearing of the victim herself.

Before the arrest, police had already served a search and seizure warrant at the former deputy’s residence, when his cell phone was seized for data analysis.
Iram Saraiva Junior, who was also a state deputy in Goiás, remained detained after the warrant’s fulfillment, while the investigations continue to investigate details of the crime.
