Lula authorizes advancement in the exemption of school for CNH

Ministry of Transport will open public consultation on the possibility of ending the minimum loading of 20 hours of class

The Ministry of Transport, commanded by, will start on Thursday (2.out.2025) to a public consultation on the end of the obligation of classes in the school to obtain the CNH (National Driver’s License). The decision came after the president’s approval at a meeting at the Planalto Palace.

The proposal will be open for 30 days on the platform. According to the federal government, any citizen may send suggestions before the project follows for analysis of the (National Traffic Council).

The ministry states that the goal is to make CNH more accessible and cheap, especially for categories A (motorcycles) and B (cars). The idea came from the Minister of Transport. A (National Association of Detrans), however, already.

According to the agency, the decision does not need to go through Congress and may come into force through an executive act.

What changes

In practice, the measure does not end the self -school, but makes it optional. The candidate can choose whether to do classes in a CFC (school) or prepare in other ways (autonomous instructor, study on account). Classes can be face -to -face, distance or digital.

The minimum load requirement of 20 hours of class will be dismissed. The candidate may hire CFCs or autonomous instructors accredited by the Detrans (State Traffic Departments).

There will also be facilitation for categories C, D and E, allowing the processes to be performed by CFCs or other entities.

The government estimates that the cost of obtaining CNH could fall up to 80%, with more flexibility and stimulation of competition. Self -schools will continue to offer classes and courses, including in the EAD mode.

The project also establishes the digital accreditation of autonomous instructors and the use of technological platforms for schedule, payments and geolocation.
