The offensive is considered the largest ever against drug trafficking in the mountainous region. Residents of the Maré Complex reported intense shootings during the action.
Agents of the 106th DP (Itaipava) and Core (Coordination of Special Resources), with the support of Gaeco (Specialized Expertise Group in Combating Organized Crime) of the Public Prosecution Service, participate in the action. Until now, 12 people were arrested.
In addition to arrests, the court ordered the blockade of approximately R $ 700,000 in goods related to the faction, reaching the assets used to support illegal activities.
Investigations
According to police, the findings identified 55 people involved in the criminal scheme. The organization’s leader, his right -hand man and other cronies would be hidden at Parque União, Maré, where they coordinated the logistics of drug transport to the mountainous region.
