The Hungarian Prime Minister described the EU steps as war plans and triggered a campaign to reject them. It criticizes access to Ukraine.
The European Union decided to go to war, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Thursday to journalists in Copenhagen before the European Political Community (EPC) meeting, where about 40 leaders from European countries will participate. According to him, this step is harmful to Hungary and the Union, so he announced that the Hungarian government Party Fidesz will start collecting signatures “against the war plans of Brussels”, says TASR newsletter in Budapest, referring to MTI.
Orbán, who is also chairman of the Fidesz party, said he would propose the Fidesz Presidency to start a campaign to collect signatures “against the war plans of Brussels” in Hungary. The Prime Minister added that the informal EU summit on Wednesday was a difficult day and even Thursday would not be easy, according to his statement, basically every proposal on the table is a war proposal.
“Let us give Ukrainians more money for war, let us give Ukrainians a weapon for war, speeding up their accession to the European Union,” Orbán said the proposals submitted and stressed that it is all about war. He expressed the view that the EU decided to go to the war, and in Wednesday even introduced a war strategy, “how to defeat the Russians”. It is scary, it is bad for Hungary and it is bad for the EU, but the pressure is great. The main topic of the discussion of the EPC meeting will be the security situation in Europe. Prime Minister Robert Fico will not participate in the EPC summit for health reasons.
