Thematic parks have evolved a lot over the last few decades and today there are spaces that can combine technology, imagination and unique experiences. Among them, one of the best thematic parks in the world stands out, which during the cold months becomes a true fairy tale scenario, according to Lifestyle Nit magazine.
This is Phantasialand in Brühl, Germany, which was distinguished this year by the Publikum agency as the best in the country. The park, which began in the 1960s with puppet shows, is preparing to host another edition of Wintertraum, one of the most anticipated events of the cold season, between November 15 and January 25.
From the “land of fantasy” to record-roller coasters
The story began in 1967, when puppet Richard Schmidt and Gottlieb parks operator Löffhardt decided to create a space -inspired space. Initially small, it was growing with thematic areas such as Chinatown and Mexico, inaugurated in the 1980s.
Over time, new technologies forced the replacement of old attractions, but also opened doors for innovation. The Taron roller coaster in Klugheim was distinguished by Guinness as the longest with multiple releases and the most rail crossings. Fly, inaugurated in 2020, has the longest-flying mountain record in the world, according to the same source.
Winter comes to a new life
In winter, the park turns with lights, decorated rails and thematic shows. Wintertraum includes performances such as “Fuego Tiempo” and Magic Symphony’s device, which make the visit even more memorable.
More than 40 attractions and seven themed worlds
Currently, Phantasialand offers more than 40 attractions spread across seven areas: Rookburgh, Mexico, Mystery, Deep In Africa, Berlin, Chinatown and Fantasy. In addition to the record holders, there are options for the whole family, such as Colorado Adventure, Interactive Experience Maus Au Chocolat and children’s attractions such as Bolles Flugschule.
Hotels and gastronomy that complete the experience
This place, considered by many to be one of the best thematic parks in the world, has three thematic hotels. Ling Bao is inspired by Asia and follows Feng Shui’s principles, Village Mamba recreates African villages and Charles Lindbergh, integrated into the roller coasters, was elected several times as the best theme park hotel in the world, according to the previously mentioned source.
In the restoration, visitors find from fast food to home dishes such as pasta, bowls and hamburgers, designed for all tastes.

Tickets start at 51 euros for children and 61 euros for adults. The park ends only in February and March, reopening for the summer season.
