Brazilian player Kayo Lopes, 23, from BKS Sparta Brodnica, Poland, suffered serious injuries after a car accident on Sunday (28) in Plowce district.
He was in the vehicle next to his friends Brendon Pereira, striker of the same team, and Pedro Guilherme, former defender of the club, also Brazilians.
Pedro Guilherme drove the car, which left the track, overturned and hit a tree.
Kayo, a former Volta Redonda (RJ) midfielder, was taken to a region hospital with back injury. He underwent surgery in the cervical spine and is hospitalized in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit).
“All passengers were sober at the time of the incident,” says a statement issued by the club, which disputes the fourth local division.
Sparta campaign to raise funds for the player’s treatment and rehabilitation.
“He is in a pharmacological coma, his condition remains very serious and the treatment is uncertain. All his family is thousands of kilometers away, in his Brazil Brazil,” says an excerpt from a team post.
According to the club, Kayo is alone in Poland and part of the money will be used to pay for parents’ travel and accommodation.
Brendon and Pedro have already been discharged from the hospital.
