FIFA presented on Thursday (2) the official ball of the 2026 World Cup. Called Trionda, it represents a technological advance associated with VAR, according to the entity, as well as details that provide tribute to the three host countries: United States, Mexico and Canada.
The ball, presented at an event in New York, was developed by the German brand Adidas, a tournament supplier since 1970.
“I am happy and proud to introduce Trionda,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino. “Adidas has created a new and emblematic worldwide ball, whose design incorporates the unity and passion of host countries.”
“I look forward to seeing the first goals with this wonderful ball,” said the leader of the top entity of world football.
The first World Cup organized by three countries, in which they will compete 48 teams, inspired both the name and the details of this ball with green, red and blue touches.
The ball also displays iconography of each host nation: onboard leaves of Canada, the Mexico Eagle and the US stars.
In the center of the ball, a triangle stands out, in reference to the union of the three US countries, formed from panels that reproduce the waves to which the name of the ball makes reference.
Adidas has also incorporated in the trionda aerodynamic and technological advances that will provide information from each movement of the ball.
A 500 Hz movement sensor will send accurate data to the VAR system in real time, which will help referees in decision making as the impediments.
The presentation of the ball is another step in the countdown to the US World Cup, whose tickets are already on sale and will celebrate its group stage draw on December 5 in Washington DC.
