The Public Prosecution Service of the State of Acre (MPAC) has determined that Rio Branco Supermarkets, Bars and Restaurants Inform, within ten days, as the acquisition, receipt and storage of alcoholic beverages are performed, as well as the measures adopted in the face of suspicions of tampering. The lawsuit was conducted by the 1st Specialized Prosecutor of Consumer Protection, through a recent news.

The measure occurs in response to national alert on the health risk resulting from the sale of adulterated beverages with methanol. Until October 2, 2025, 59 suspected cases of intoxication were reported in the country, with 53 occurrences in São Paulo (11 confirmed and 42 in investigation), five in Pernambuco and one in the Federal District. An death has already been confirmed, while seven other cases are still in investigation. Although no record has been made in Acre, the MPAC emphasizes the importance of prevention.
In addition to the establishments, the Procon/AC, the State Department of Health (Sesacre), the Acre Civil Police, the Acrean Association of Supermarkets and the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants – Acre Sectional were scientific and received a copy of Technical Note No. 03/2025 from the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) to adopt measures within their duties.
MPAC recalls that suppliers have a legal obligation to prevent health risks, provide correct information on products, remove inappropriate drinks for consumption and respond civil, administratively and criminally in case of adulteration or marketing of harmful products.
