When going to the forest for mushrooms, you can come across different specimens. We have already written about the fact that it is worth it, because you can find one of the favorite mushrooms of Poles. It is also worth looking for huge, white balls. This is a giant skull from which you can prepare a tasty dinner.
The giant skull is a mushroom belonging to the Purchavaky family, sometimes called a giant Purchavica. It’s edible and tasty mushroom, moreover, it is difficult to overlook it. It reaches large sizes, it can be 10 to 60 cm in diameter. Most of them reach a few kilos, but there are also specimens weighing up to several kilos. Due to its size, it is easy to identify. The largest found, registered specimen weighed over 20 kg.
Young fruiting bodies are edible – after cutting the mushroom is white, the older ones become yellow and released spores, these must not be eaten. Young skulls are white and covered with a delicate coating over time darken. The agent, i.e. the pulp is edible and very tasty, it has a cheese consistency, resembles a mushroom in taste.

This mushroom can be found in Poland, but it does not grow in many places, it can be found in the Czech Republic more often – mushroom pickers living near the border, they may consider looking for it in the forests. Where exactly can it appear? It has several requirements in terms of positions, it usually appears in meadows, forest edges and in parks. It grows in the grass, in sunny places. We will not find it in dense forests, with poor access to light.
Most often it can be found from July to October. He likes the birch company, despite the large size, it can blend in with the surroundings, especially since sometimes it can grow in a higher grass. Only young individuals should be collected – it is best to cut in half found, if you are not sure, if the agent is white, then the mushroom will be suitable for dinner for the whole family.

This mushroom, like, can be in the form of chops. The skirt should be rinsed and removed the skin. Then cut it into slices about 1 cm thick and coat in the egg and breadcrumbs, and season with salt and pepper. Such chops are best frying with hot butter, a few minutes on both sides until they are browned.
This mushroom can also be used for soups and sauces, it is also suitable as a stuffing for dumplings. The skull can also be dried and unlucky, e.g. for the winter.
