With the new features, Porto Acre will be contemplated with two works: a Psychosocial Care Center (CAPS) and a Basic Health Unit (UBS). The municipality of Tarauacá will also receive a UBS, expanding the population’s access to essential medical services.
These new structures aim to reinforce primary health care, considered the gateway to SUS. Strengthening this level of care is fundamental to reduce demand on medium and high complexity services, such as hospitals and specialized clinics.
According to the Ministry of Health, investments are part of a national action that provides for the construction of 899 new care units in 26 states, totaling R $ 2.5 billion in resources. The measure is part of the New Pac Health axis, which seeks to modernize and expand health infrastructure throughout the country.
Health Minister Alexandre Padilha stressed that the program “now has specialists” and the new PAC operate in an integrated manner to reduce queues and expand the population’s access to consultations, exams and surgeries. “The immediate expansion of the offer of services is accompanied by more investment in infrastructure. It is a structuring front that guarantees more health services for the population,” he said.
